The Pier is a culture blog on the arts, architecture, media, and whatever else seems critical or intriguing. I am a writer, editor, and reader based in the wilds of Boston. Thanks to good fortune I have traveled widely and lived abroad, so my understanding of “culture” is far-reaching — meaning I never tire of exploring the place I am right now. I have a special interest in architecture and don’t hear enough talk about its importance in people’s lives, so, in my own small way, I’d like to pique readers’ interest in the built environment.
